Party Time!

Here we are smack dab in the middle of the holiday party season.  So, what's a girl to wear?  I made a few selections from the Fall 2010 collections.

First up: The Office Party.

Now, those who know me know that I don't actually work in an office, and never really have.  I like to think that if I ever do get an office job it will be so glamorous and amazing that I will dress like this everyday.  And it's so sensible.  Look at those tights!  Those are nice warm sensible  tights.

And if I dress in Prada everyday then I assume I can wear things like this for my office parties.
Dolce and Gabbana
Dolce and Gabbana.  Maybe a little less sensible, but it's a party!  Come on people!

The next party on the list, the family party.  If your family is anything like mine there are about a million phone calls about cake in the days leading up to the actual get together, and no one has ever noticed what anyone else is wearing(except for that one time when my Grammie thought my Mother-in-laws earrings were a little too flamboyant).  So, in real life I will probably wear jeans and a t-shirt to any and all family parties(as I always do), but for the sake of today's post let's just pretend I have a  family who has ultra chic get togethers where we toast each other using the finest crystal filled with whatever today's trendiest cocktail is.  For that get together I'm wearing this:
Burberry Prorsum
Notice I stayed with  the jeans and a t-shirt vibe(but so much more awesome than what I will actually wear), I mean it's family, they don't care what you wear. Side Note: for anyone wishing to purchase a Christmas present for me I will accept anything from the Fall 2010 collection by Burberry Prorsum. A few items you may want to select from(I can't make it any easier for you folks):
The coat and boots pictured above would be more than welcome under my tree.  As would the coat, boots, and/or dress pictured below:
Back to the parties.

Girls Night out. And/or party with friends.    This is always a fun one.  And the dress you pick will depend on  what the night holds in store.  So I have provided several selections.  The first is from Thakoon:
Thakoon
Nice and casual but styled right still dressy enough to wear out.  It looks super comfy and easy to wear too.
Next up: Versace.
Versace
I mean, come on, you can't talk party dresses without talking Versace.  Personally I was not a huge fan of the Fall collection, it was a little too...Barbarella for me, but there are a few stand outs.  The above being one of them.
My favorite for this category is another look by Dolce and Gabbana.  A perfectly romantic little ensemble.
Dolce and Gabbana
Last but not least is the New Years Eve party.  Go glamorous or go home.  I'm going to wear this:

Versace

Another Versace standout.  No, wait, I might wear this by Marc Jacobs:
Marc Jacobs
Or this by Michael Kors.  So simple and easy to wear.
Michael Kors
There's also this look by Betsey Johnson that I WILL discover a party for:
Betsey Johnson
And I need an invite to at least one more party so I have an excuse for this Dolce and Gabbana number(I promise no more D&G in this post).
Dolce and Gabbana
That just about wraps that up.  If anyone has a party they need me to attend please don't hesitate to message me, I will be accepting invites all December long.  Happy Holly Days everyone!

Dame Vivienne Westwood

Sorry to any and all of you who read this when I first posted it on Tumblr.  But I love Dame Westwood sooooo much I think you should all lover her too.

Why you should know who she is:
Vivienne Westwood is responsible for making Punk high fashion. She has been a revolutionary designer since her career began in the early 70’s, and has been pushing boundaries ever since.

Westwood made her move from teaching primary school to punk fashion guru in 1971 when her second husband Malcolm MacLaren opened ‘Sex’, a small shop specialising in Punk wear and records. Westwood began making and selling clothing for the shop, drawing inspiration from bikers, prostitutes, and fetishists. Soon after opening the store MacLaren began managing the Sex Pistols who began wearing Westwoods designs onstage.

What has she done since?
She has continued to rebel and shock both on the catwalk and in her personal life. Westwood now close to seventy continues to design her four labels(Gold Label, Red Label, Anglomania, and Man). Her Fall 2010 collection was a classic example of her work, offering up a mix of pieces that could have come from a British grannies closet contrasted with tailored suits and outrageous shrugs and dresses that give the impression that they have simply been thrown onto the models, and are in danger of slipping off and hitting the floor.

Vivienne Westwood Red Label Fall/2010 didn’t disappoint.  The tailored jackets and tartan skirts worked in Westwood’s dramatic style give a nod to her knowledge of corsets and Victorian dressmaking.  A little reminiscent of her days at the front of the class perhaps, but in her typical bad girl super sexy way.

And why do I love her so?
Westwood famously wore a sheer dress sans knickers when she received her Order of The British Empire from the Queen in 1992.   And over the years has always taken vocal stands in causes she supports.  Including designing t-shirts and baby wear which read ‘I am not a terrorist, please don’t arrest me’, for British civil rights group Liberty.

Most recently, and perhaps why I love her most of all, after 10 min she walked out of the Premiere of the Sex and The City movie criticising the costuming by stylist Patricia Field as being “…both frumpy and boring.”! Go Dame Westwood! The movie however did feature one of Westwoods wedding gowns, which has since been called the most iconic outfit from the entire series. And a pair of sandals designed for Westwoods S/S 2009 collection made an appearance on the poster for the sequel.

Conclusion:
I love Dame Westwood.
